A few things to note: The obligation to attend Sunday Mass is Dispensed by Bishop Joseph Nguyen for the entire Diocese of Kamloops.
-Social Distancing is in effect. Do not attend Mass if you are sick or at risk of becoming sick.
-Please follow the directional arrows. Exit to the double doors at the back of the church. Please be attentive to the ushers, who will direct you to your seats.

Please stay seated during Holy Communion until the ushers direct you.
-Holy Communion will be given in the hand only.

PLEASE CALL TO REGISTER. Registration is essential should an outbreak occur. If you are registered but cannot attend the Mass, please let us know asap so we can get a replacement since there are limited spots available.

ACT OF SPIRITUAL COMMUNION: My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.

Following Jesus, the way, is a personal invitation from Jesus to you and to me. Let us respond generously to this encounter and invite others to sojourn together with us.

We have many hopes and dreams with the Lord for our local Church. Certainly our Faith in Action campaign will help us to embrace and renew our commitment on our journey of following Jesus as his disciples. The world always proposes selfishness as a path to happiness, but God proposes generosity as the path to happiness and eternal life.

Thank you for your generous participation with our Faith In Action Campaign this year.

Dear St. Ann’s Parishioners,

In the Events section of the web site you will find the schedule for the Catholic School’s Week at St. Ann’s School. This year’s theme is “Care for Our Common Home”. Please make note of the many events that are happening as a celebration of how lucky we are to have our fabulous Catholic school here in Quesnel and come check it out!

Along with Catholic School’s Week, St. Ann’s School has many great things happening year round and this is evident by our growing enrollment. Families with school age children know what a treasure you have built here at St. Ann’s. By providing an environment enriched by our Catholic traditions and Gospel values, every child is given the opportunity to strive for personal, intellectual, spiritual, and physical excellence as a responsible member of society and a unique child of God. This upcoming Catholic School’s Week is a great chance for you to drop by and see for yourself the ST. ANN’S ADVANTAGE!

Thank you for continuing to support Catholic education in Quesnel.

Blessings,

Mrs. T. Milley
Principal

Almighty God and Father of light, a child is born for us and a Son is given to us. Your eternal Word leaped down from heaven in the silent watches of the night, and now your Church is filled with wonder at the nearness of her God. Open our hearts to receive his life and increase our vision with the rising of dawn, that our lives may be filled with his glory and his peace, who lives and reigns for ever and ever. Amen

This Advent season has been a time of waiting and preparing for the coming of Jesus, recalling his birth and looking to his coming again in glory. The anticipation is over and the joy and peace of Christmas comes into our hearts and lights our way to the Christ Child. Truly, Christmas is a season of rejoicing in the Incarnation.

The Christmas season begins with the celebration of the birth of Jesus, Christmas day, or as a vigil on Christmas Eve. The Feast of Christmas lasts 12 days, until Epiphany. However, the time from Epiphany until the Baptism of the Lord is also included in the Christmas season. Traditionally, Epiphany had been fixed to January 6th, and the Baptism celebrated on the octave of Epiphany, which was January 13th. In most countries, the Epiphany is now celebrated on the Sunday closest to January 6th, and the Baptism celebrated the following Sunday.

We come and kneel before you in humility and gratitude. We sing our praises to you. Thank you, O Lord, our God. Amen.

A Brief History of Jubilee Years (Sunday Visitor)

Jubilee years can be found in the Old Testament where once very 50 years debts were forgiven and those who had been imprisoned from failure to pay debts were allowed to return to their land (see Lv 25:8-13). Jubilee years were a time of social and economic “salvation,” during which gaps between rich and poor could be lessened. The land was left fallow during this year so that it could rest as well.

Pope Boniface VIII took up the tradition of jubilees in 1300, and it has continued since then. A mandate from Pope Paul II, in 1470, changed ordinary jubilee years to be scheduled once every 25 years. With a handful of exceptions due to difficult political conditions in Rome, jubilee years have followed that ordinary schedule.

[two_third padding=”0 10px 0 10px”]

Year of Mercy

The Year of Mercy is an extraordinary jubilee year because it breaks that schedule. The extraordinary year begins on Dec. 8, 2015, solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, and ends Nov. 20, 2016, solemnity of Christ the King.

As in previous jubilee years, a plenary indulgence will be offered to those who make a pilgrimage to Rome and visit the tombs of Sts. Peter and Paul or the Basilica of St. John Lateran. Dioceses may also offer indulgences associated with local shrines. All jubilee years are associated with forgiveness, but the upcoming jubilee has the specific theme of mercy.

Pope Francis has asked that during this jubilee year all dioceses increase access to the Sacrament of Penance, particularly during Lent. He has also asked that Catholics pray about the mystery of mercy in their lives and engage in concrete action that shows mercy to the poor and isolated. He particularly recommends the spiritual and corporal works of mercy.
