Jesus, in this 4th Sunday of Easter’s gospel (Jn. 20: 27-30), makes a solemn promise of eternal life. The question for us now is what we must do to receive this gift? We must “hear” and “follow” His voice, He said (Jn. 20.27). These two words, “hear and follow”, sum up our “must have response” in order to receive this wonderful and precious gift He won for us through His Passion, Death and Resurrection.
Today we hear His voice in and through the Church, where He makes Himself known in her teachings, worship, and sacraments. Also we hear His voice in and through the Scripture and our well-informed conscience; and then we must devoutly and faithfully follow His voice.
I would like to ask you in the next few weeks to read the summary of Our Holy Father, Pope Francis, Apostolic Exhortation, called Amoris Laetilia, The Joy of Love in the Family, signed on March 19th and published on April 8th 2016.
