My dear parishioners and visitors to St. Ann’s Quesnel.
I had a good meeting with the Ushers and the Reader on Tuesday Nov. 17th at 7.00p.m. in the church. The meeting was good and positive because everyone came with a willingness to serve God and to help the parish. I thank all of you for faithfully serving God and for generously helping our parish-families through various ministries in the parish.
We celebrate on this weekend, the last Sunday of the liturgical year, the Feast of Christ the King. Jesus, who is Our King and Lord, came to serve, not to be served. May all of us always come together before God with a generous hearts and hands to serve Him and to help one another in this journey of faith.
I also would like to share with you “my 5 years-plan”. Together we will study and celebrate these 4 priorities in the next 5 years:
- The teaching of the Apostles: By focusing on our Faith Formation & Bible Study.
@. Challenges: Today Catholics either do not know the Faith well or know the Faith but do not practice it.
@. Action: Inviting & inspiring everyone to come to learn, to know, to love, to practice and to share our faith. - The communal life: By focusing on making our parish & school being more welcoming & loving family and a good place of worship especially for children, young people, young families.
@. Challenges: No spiritual & social program for / with: children, youth, aboriginal parishioners.
@. Action: Social & spiritual events & celebrations and programs for / with different groups in the parish: children, youth, especially with the aboriginal parishioners. - The breaking of the Bread and Prayer: By focusing on the importance of the Mass, the Center & The Summit of our Christian life and on the different devotional practices of the Church.
@. Challenges: Not many attending the Sunday Mass, especially young people, young families. No significant annual celebration for the parish & school.
@. Action: Liturgical workshops, Faith Education, parish-mission and retreats. July 26th, the Feast of St. Ann, will be the annual Parish & School Feast Day.
Have a blessed week. Fr. Peter Hoan Nguyen, your pastor.
